I went to squash when I was six years old. My mum took me to my local squash court, and I played along with my best friend weekly, soon enough I found a real passion for squash. I joined Middlesex at 11 years old and started playing tournaments and representing Middlesex in Inter- County competitions. A year later, I wanted some training to help me improve and I found Brendon; he helped me grow in confidence as a player and get 100 times better at the sport I love whilst helping me enjoy it, rather than it feeling like a chore. He has coached me through national competitions and stressful tournaments, helping reach my full potential. Looking back a couple of years ago I would never have recognised the player I am today, and I am so grateful. In addition, I am giving back to the sport I love by volunteering to help the younger squash players and at the same time I can totting up the hours for my Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award.

Squash has been my main sport for the better part of nine years. Initially, I started playing the game to have fun and socialise, but recently, I’ve been able to use squash to relax and keep active even during exam season. I am currently in my last year of A-Levels and taking Maths, Physics and Design Technology. This is in hopes of studying engineering at UNI. I find that playing squash has helped both my physical and mental health, by giving me a reason to go outside and get exercise during my studies. Having Brendon as a coach for the past few years has drastically developed my skill and above all, developed my hunger to progress as far as I can in the sport; shown by my participation in Middlesex squash and being captain of my school squash team. Brendon has also shown me how much you can impact students as a coach whether it may be their wellbeing, technique, or passion for the sport. which is why I’m aiming to get my England Squash Level 1 coaching qualification as soon as possible.
